Coming to you from San Fran!

Last week (yes, last week...as in last week Wednesday) we booked a trip to San Francisco. Ned's been very interested in going on an airplane for a while now, and being that February 15th marks our one year familyversary, we thought it would be fun to bring Nedy to the claimed "best Chinatown outside of China." (As though there are Chinatowns in China?!)

Anyway, yesterday through 4:00am this morning we got hit with a foot of snow and I wondered if our 8:30am flight today would even happen. But it did--and on time! And, if I do say so myself, this kid is one heck of a pro traveler. Nearly five hours on that plane and nothing but good spirits. She napped for, oh...25 minutes and spent the rest of the time spying on the people behind us, coloring in her coloring book, watching Big Bird in China on the laptop, and asking Turtle how he was enjoying the flight. ("Turtle? Fun? Airplane fun?")

We arrived around noon and took BART (the train--Nedy thought it was way "tooooo looouuuud") to the stop closest to our hotel, the Renaissance Court located at the tippy top of the very steep Nob Hill. The train station? Bottom of the hill. Good times.

Ned was pretty tired by this time--but of course refusing another "rest"--so we decided to hold off on Chinatown until tomorrow and headed instead to the tourist trap Fisherman's Wharf. A lengthy stretch of cable car passengering later, we were smack in the middle of SF's version of the Wisconsin Dells. Have no fear, we plowed through the stream of bad t-shirt vendors and found the adorable lounging sea lions at Pier 39. And then we had some sourdough pizza.

But none of this compared to Ned's enjoyment of cable car passengering. So, to commemorate her fondness for the "little trains" I bought her a tacky little plastic cable car. And I think the pictures speak for themselves. Best 2.95 toy EVER. (Who says you can't buy a great souvenir at Walgreen's?)

By 4:30 our room would be ready, so we headed back (via cable car, of course) to our hotel. Two cable car lines intersect at the hotel, and I upgraded us to a city view room with a birds eye view of the cable car lines. Needless to say, Ned digs this place. We walked into the room and she ran to the windows. "Little train! Out window! Baby watch!" And watch she did. For a good 30 minutes.

And then by 6:30 her little eyes could stay open no longer and she fell asleep in her stroller on our way back from the grocery store. Hmmm...what's your guess for wake-up time tomorrow morning? I'm goin' with 4:30. Wish us luck!

I can't say what's more awesome...your last minute trip, that hotel room (!!), the fun you're all obviously having, or Nedy's pigtails!

Okay, so it's a tie between the fun you're having and the pigtails. :)

Hope you have a great day, and that Nedy let you sleep in a little!

I'm tempted to vote for the pigtails! So glad you're having a blast. I'm having a blast just reading this.
