Of skin tags and Silly Putty...

Nedy is a character. She has a memory that scares me and, frankly, makes me mindful of pretty much everything I say in front of her these days.

Several weeks ago, my Mom and I were talking in her kitchen about a small growth on her arm. It didn’t look alarming or anything, but my Mom agreed—after my usual prodding and I’m sure only for the purpose of shutting me up—that she’d have her doctor check it out at her next appointment. Apparently Nedy, my resident spy, overheard this conversation.

Remember this post?

So today my Mom watched Nedy on short notice. Mom had a doctor’s appointment in the morning and took Nedy with her. Nedy sat quietly and watched as the doctor checked her over, asked all the questions doctors do, and finished by asking Mom if she had any questions about her health. If you know my Mom, you know she said, “Nope.”

Now you know Nedy was not havin’ that sort of avoidance on her watch. Pointing to the offending growth, Nedy blurts out, “Doc-or, what dis on Nana’s arm?” The doctor (after commenting on how smart my baby is, mind you) checked it out right away and informed Nedy (and Nana, I guess) that it was a harmless skin tag and was a-okay.

I love that someone else is obsessing about Nana other than me. And I’m sure Nana is just thrilled about it. Ahem.

Oh, and then it got even better--after dinner we got to relive the doctor's appointment experience as Nedy pulled a piece off her Silly Putty wad and smooshed it on her arm while assigning roles, "Dis how it goes. I be Nana. Mama da doc-or. Baba, you be me, 'kay?"

Silly Putty skin tag reenactment. I mean, really, does it get any better?
